#hirethishuman: what it is, why I do it, and why it matters.
Together we can make a difference.
Earlier this year, I has experiencing a mental rut and I felt a pull to focus on something outside of myself. I had (and still have) my business Interview Ally where I support job seekers in resume writing, interview coaching, and more… but I wanted to do something beyond that where I could expand my reach.
I remember scrolling through LinkedIn one day and seeing a post with the hashtag #hirethishuman…I loved the snappy alliteration and the meaning behind it, and in that moment, I was hooked.
I decided to do weekly posts featuring individuals looking for work and sharing their career story in front of an engaging and supportive audience. I would highlight each person’s unique skills, experience, and the value they bring to the table.
For the next few months, it took some time falling into a groove, but it felt right and good from the very beginning.
I have been amazed and inspired to see the level of support individuals far and wide have shown each other (even job seekers showing up for other job seekers!). To date, I am happy to share that 100+ individuals have been featured in the #hirethishuman posts.
The sense of community that has emerged from this movement has been truly inspiring. It has demonstrated to me that when there is a call for help, people will rally together.
After months of publishing the posts, I discovered that Laurel Burns created the #hirethishuman movement on LinkedIn. I appreciate her for having the creative mind and the kind heart to introduce the concept.
What’s more — There are other awesome people like Erik Boemanns who are doing what they can to shine a light on those who are looking for work. Be sure to check out his page as well as his newest initiative You Just Found Me.
In the meantime, if you would like to check out my #hirethishuman posts, please visit my LinkedIn page.
Lastly, I will close with an open invitation to job seekers who are reading this:

The other ask I have for you:
